What’s new this month
3D HD Camcorders. Finally since first being introduced to us in January in Vegas, 3D video camcorders are finally becoming available:
Aiptek 3D-HD High Definition 3D Camcorder
Panasonic SDT750 3D Camcorder with 3MOS Sensor, SD Card Recording and Full HD
You can read both on this site by clicking on this link: http://www.articlesbase.com/gadgets-and-gizmos-articles/3d-hd-camcorders-and-3d-movie-editing-software-2010-3416385.html
DSLRs. At the recent DV Expo in Pasadena, the big buzz was all about shooting independent films and videos with HD DSLRs, namely the Canon family of digital SLR cameras.
I need feedback from you if this is of any interest to you, or if this is your preferred method of acquiring footage.

Finally, after searching for a future-proof camcorder to replace my old 3 chip Panasonic, I took the plunge. As a camcorder reviewer I have checked out more than 300 camcorders just in this past year, so you may be able to imaging my predicament and procrastination.
I first of all was very excited about the new Panasonic HDC-TM700, but due to the bad publicity about the noise from the internal fan I resisted the urge to purchase and kept searching for other suitable models.
The best of these seemed to be the Canon VIXIA HF S20, but I think once you get used to a viewfinder as well as the LCD screen it would be missed too much.
I do have an Aiptek pocket cam which I’ve found really useful to carry around with me everywhere, but I miss the manual controls of my Panasonic.
So after a few more months of reviewing everything new to the market, I’m back to square one and took the plunge, buying my original first choice the Panasonic HDC-TM700. I know I made the right decision, and so far I have never heard any fan noise.
I’ve been touring Colorado with it for this past 2 months, from Royal Gorge, south of Colorado Springs, to the National Monument and vineyards of Grand Junction, North to the Rocky Mountain National Park, and lots of stuff around the City of Denver. The video resolution is absolutely stunning!
Editing the footage of this 1920 x 1080 progressive resolution has reportedly been problematic, but I have a few tricks and insider knowledge on work arounds which I’ll touch on next time.
