JVC Everio GZ-HM30 Review
The entry level JVC GZ-HM30 HD Everio with an SDXC flash memory card slot, offering high-quality HD video ideal for Web sharing on YouTube(TM) and Facebook. The GZ-HM50 is identical to the JVC GZHM30 but the GZ-HM50 has an added 8GB internal Flash memory .
Just a quick explanation of AVCHD, Advanced Video Coding High Definition. AVCHD is a high quality H.264/MPEG-4 compression system used in many professional AVCHD camcorder models but now showing up in our Prosumer camcorder reviews and even in the high end Consumer camcorders.

When recording in Standard Definition, the Dynamic Zoom function uses nearly all of the CMOS chip’s effective pixels to achieve up to 70x magnification without any picture quality degradation.

JVC Everio GZ-HM30 HD/SD Dual Format Recording
Recording Record in AVCHD Full HD* if you want to watch the results on an HDTV or burn 1280 x 720 resolution videos to a Blu-ray disc or DVD. In addition you can record in Standard Definition to edit 720 x 480 resolution videos for longer recording times, burn to standard DVD and share with people who haven’t upgraded to HDTV yet. Remember, HD for higher quality recordings or SD for broad compatibility and longer recording time — with the JVC GZHM30 the choice is yours.

JVC Everio GZHM30 Time-Lapse REC
Time-Lapse REC records one frame at a time at set intervals (1sec.–80sec.). So you can watch movement that’s hours long in just a few seconds when played back. It’s great when you want to observe an event that takes place over a long period of time or to record unique-looking scenes in a creative way.
JVC Everio GZHM30 Auto REC
When a subject enters the camcorder’s detecting area and the luminance changes, recording starts automatically. Recording continues as long as there is movement within the area and automatically stops after 5 seconds of no movement. Use the JVC GZHM30 like a surveillance camera or to record events unattended.
