JVC GY-HM150U professional video camcorders have three 1/4″ Progressive-Scan CCDs with a high-accuracy Fujinon glass prism and proprietary mounting technology, a Fujinon 10x Zoom HD Lens with three aspheric elements and Rotary Optical Image Stabilizer.
This JVC GY-HM150U compact handheld camcorder is an upgrade of the GY-HM100 JVC professional video camcorders as issued to photojournalists around the world. A new encoder delivers adds support for standard definition, manual controls have 6 user assignable buttons and an iris dial next to the lens, with dual card recording capability to create an instant back-up copy, making the JVC GY-HM150 highly recommendable for demanding news and production assignments.
The JVC GY-HM150U also comes with a wired remote interface (3.5mm connector) for operating the camcorder remotely when using a tripod, jib, crane or boom. An infrared remote control is also provided, great for when an operator is unavailable or unnecessary.
The JVC Professional Rotary Optical Image Stabilizer corrects for lateral and vertical movement resulting in pristine HD images that remain sharp and stable. Coupled with the JVC-developed Dynamic Digital Signal Processor and five digital noise reduction technologies ensures the highest picture quality in any shooting mode.
The JVC GY-HM150U compact handheld camcorder uses encoders from the J JVC Professional GY-HM790 series camcorders with compression up to 35 megabits per second giving recorded images of exceptional quality. A standard definition recording capability providing an alternative to down-conversion of HD material for SD broadcasts.
JVC GY-HM150U File Formats
QuickTime™ is the native file format of the JVC GY-HM150U to edit in Apple’s Final Cut Pro™ editing system, just drop directly into Final Cut Pro™ to keep files first-generation and eliminating the time-consuming process of file conversion.
These GY-HM150U JVC professional video camcorders support the MP4 file format which can be brought into your editing system without re-encoding.
JVC GY-HM150U 3 CCD camcorders have 2 memory card slots making the GY-HM150U a truly versatile camcorder. Record either to both cards simultaneously, or from one card to the other in relay. When one card is full, the camcorder switches seamlessly and automatically to the other card. And because cards are hot swappable, there is in effect no limit to the continuous shooting time in any mode, even with lower capacity cards.
SD media offer the best combination of price, availability, capacity, reliability and transfer speed. With no moving parts and no pins or other extrusions, SDHC/SDXC cards are both durable and reliable, and compare favorably with all other media types on a cost-per-minute basis.
The JVC GY-HM150U records 2 channels of uncompressed audio with auto or manual controls with an audio meter and balanced XLR connectors on the handle for an external microphone and/or wireless receiver with 48V phantom power.
The JVC GY-HM150U is the smallest pro format 3-CCD camcorder available at only 3.1 lbs fully loaded. For a smaller footprint and covert shooting, the handle can be easily removed. When media needs to be concealed, Micro-SDHC memory cards can be used with a card adapter. To conserve on space, a single ring is used for both manual focus and manual zoom.
JVC GY-HM150U Patented “FOCUS ASSIST” Function
The Focus Assist function can be assigned to any of the USER buttons, turning focusing into a fast, easy and accurate process. When Focus Assist is activated, the picture in the viewfinder becomes monochrome and all objects which are in focus appear with colored edges. Focus Assist works equally in the viewfinder as well as on the LCD panel.
With Pre Rec enabled, the camcorder continuously buffers up to 5 seconds of video, so that when recording is started the cached video is included in the recorded file, giving you up to 5 second head start while Time Lapse (interval) recording offers variable recording intervals and frequency settings, allowing for total control when creating time-lapse effects.
The 2.7-inch 16:9 aspect ratio LCD monitor provides an alternative to the viewfinder and a wide array of monitoring and setup indications. When used with JVC Data Batteries, the remaining battery power by percentage and remaining recording time in minutes can be checked with the touch of a button.
