If you need a high quality Full HD consumer camcorder packed with features recording only to one SD/SDHC/SDXC memory card, check out the Canon Vixia HF M500 2012 model, an updated camcorder from the Canon HF M400 of last year.
The improved specifications are listed below but briefly include a better Canon HD CMOS PRO sensor for a 20% improvement in low light situations, choice of Full HD AVCHD or MP4 recording, a new Intelligent Optical Image Stabilizer, extra control with added manual and auto settings, an on screen help system, WiFi and an improved Story Creator.

Main features are Wi-Fi with MP4 support, the new Canon HD CMOS PRO sensor, one SD/SDHC/SDXC memory card slot, a 10x HD Video lens with iris diaphragm, Optical Intelligent IS, 3 inch touch screen viewfinder, Smart Auto, Face Detection, Instant AF, Audio Scene Select, Wi-Fi with MP4 support and the option to store direct to external HDD.

The Vixia HF M500 has no internal flash memory but 1 card slot recording to MP4 or AVCHD backed by a 1/3-inch HD CMOS PRO Image Sensor for low light recording. Insert a 32GB card and in MP4 mode at 4Mbps record 16 hours of video, or nearly 8 hours if recording at 9Mbps.
